The Simulation Theory suggests that our entire universe might be an artificial simulation run by an advanced civilisation. Philosopher Nick Bostrom popularised the idea in 2003, arguing that if civilizations can create detailed simulations of consciousness, then simulated beings might outnumber real ones. Some technologists like Elon Musk have echoed the idea in interviews.
So far there’s no empirical evidence that we live in a simulation. Quantum experiments, cosmic background radiation and astrophysical observations are consistent with a physical universe. Most scientists view the simulation hypothesis as a thought experiment rather than a falsifiable scientific theory. Whether or not we are simulated, questioning our reality can inspire philosophical and scientific curiosity.
