Bermuda Triangle Mysteries: Separating Fact from Fiction

The Bermuda Triangle is a region of the western Atlantic Ocean where ships and airplanes have supposedly vanished without a trace. Tales of compasses spinning wildly and mysterious mists have fueled speculation about paranormal forces or alien intervention.

Most disappearances attributed to the Bermuda Triangle can be explained by storms, human error, and heavy sea and air traffic. The area is prone to hurricanes, sudden squalls, and the powerful Gulf Stream, all of which can quickly overwhelm inexperienced crews.

The myth of the Bermuda Triangle gained momentum in the 1960s with sensationalized articles and books. When researchers reviewed the incident records, they found no greater rate of loss than in other heavily traveled parts of the world. The legend persists because mystery sells, not because of any evidence.
